Tri-geeks.....

.... you can always tell when the tri-geeks have one of their "muddy buddy" races or "off-road triathlons" by the number of drink bottles strewn about, that and all of the reflectors in the technical sections of the trail. I try to clean up as best I can... hate to have the trail I love closed due to some race promoter not doing a thorough job cleaning up after the race. The worst part is that the participants don't realize that the promoters poach the trail (can't have a pay to race event on the Corps land, so they start just outside and then utilize Corps land) and no one has the budget for clean up or trail maintenance. It's up to the local groups Camino Real, or individuals.

some of what was left behind by the tri-geeks on their last event

**** Note to self, bring a couple of trash bags next time so you can clean up more trash.

bugger. i don't get it. how can you be into any outdoor activity and respect the land? YOU GO! LOVE ME A CONSCIENCIOUS TRASH MAN!

Erin, the tri-geeks will always jettison their h20 bottles once nearly empty to save weight or make room for a fresh bottle. I'm not a racer, so I can't understand this mentality. My thought process is pack it in, pack it out...

you have the right mentality. and i just reread my first comment. it's supposed to read: "how can a person be into outdoor activities and NOT respect the land?"... anyhoo... i think you caught my drift.
since you're not at a desk, it's too bad you don't live here so we can take the girls to the pool every day.

Dude, if I lived there we'd have those girls hiking @ Great Falls, riding their bikes on the W&OD, pulling them in a tow behind on the C&O, and chasing firefly's every single day.

On the hot muggy July/August days pool from open until close with breaks for lunch & dinner.

Wish we were there with you lot.
